Few things are more personal than hand-lettering. For that, you need an expert. Debbie Hart is a graphic designer specializing in lettering, typography, and calligraphy. Hart is currently an Art Specialist in Morgantown, West Virginia teaching elementary art in the public school system. She holds a Bachelors of Fine Art from the School of Visual Arts in New York, New York and a Masters in Art Education from West Virginia University.

Prior to coming to WV, she worked as a lettering artist at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri. It was there that her love of lettering was professionally developed as she was chartered to design lettering for cards of all occasions and in all formats from greeting cards to display signage, package design, and specialty products, working on over 600 card designs in the first year.

In both New York and Los Angeles, Hart designed entertainment advertising and promotion for companies such as NBC and CBS, MGM-UA, Orion Films, etc. While in Los Angeles, she was hired to do calligraphy for the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee and also did lettering for the television show “Entertainment Tonight.”

Since moving to the Morgantown area, Hart has completed a variety of projects to include but not limited to:  wedding invitations; certificates for numerous departments within West Virginia University including the Deans Award of Excellence, Order of Augusta and Vandalia, and various fraternities and sororities; birth announcements, birth certificates, graduation certificates, poems, and quotes.
